Refund Policy — Honesty, Fairness, and Peace of Mind

We believe in doing right by our families and our kittens — every time.


Let’s be honest about something: no one wants to think about refunds when they’re in the happy, exciting process of bringing home a new kitten. And in the vast majority of cases — the overwhelmingly vast majority, in our 15+ years of experience — refunds simply don’t come up. Our kittens are healthy, our families are happy, and the only calls we get after placement day are ones sharing photos and updates of how wonderfully everything is going.

But life is unpredictable, and we believe that a responsible breeder is one who communicates their policies clearly, openly, and without fine print designed to confuse. So here it is — our refund and return policy, written in plain, honest language.


Deposits

When you reserve a kitten from Harry Sphynx Home, a non-refundable deposit is required to hold your kitten. The deposit amount will be communicated to you at the time of reservation and is applied toward the final purchase price of your kitten.

Deposits are non-refundable. This policy exists because when you reserve a kitten, we stop offering that kitten to other families. We turn away other inquiries. We begin preparing specifically for your placement. If a reservation falls through — for any reason — that represents a real impact on our program and on the kitten, who now needs to be re-homed on a new timeline. We understand that circumstances change, and we always approach these situations with empathy, but we must be clear that deposits are not returned.

If the litter does not produce the kitten you reserved (for example, if you were waiting for a specific color or gender that wasn’t born), your deposit will either be applied toward another available kitten of your choosing or held in full as credit toward a future litter. We will never keep a deposit if the situation that prevented placement was on our end.


Full Purchase Price — Cancellations Before Pickup/Delivery

If you cancel your purchase after paying the full purchase price but before your kitten has been shipped or picked up, the following applies:

  • Your deposit portion is non-refundable under any circumstances
  • The remainder of the purchase price (beyond the deposit) may be refunded, OR applied as credit toward a future kitten, depending on timing and circumstances
  • If cancellation occurs within 7 days of a scheduled pickup or shipping date, we reserve the right to retain a larger portion of the purchase price to cover costs incurred in preparation for placement

We strongly encourage families to be certain before paying in full. We are always happy to answer questions, schedule video calls with your kitten, and do everything we can to ensure you feel confident and excited — not pressured — before making the final payment.


Returns After Placement

We understand that sometimes, despite everyone’s best intentions, a placement doesn’t work out. Life circumstances change. Unexpected allergies arise. A family member’s situation shifts. In these cases, we always ask that our kittens be returned to us rather than rehomed privately. This is a firm commitment we ask of every family.

Every contract signed with Harry Sphynx Home includes a return clause stating that if, at any point in the kitten’s life, the family is unable to keep the cat, the cat must be returned to us. We do not allow our cats to be sold or rehomed to third parties without our explicit written consent. This isn’t just policy — it’s a promise we make to every kitten we bring into the world. We will always be a safety net for them.

Refund policy on returns:

  • Returns within 30 days of placement: We will refund 50% of the purchase price (less the deposit) once the kitten has been returned and evaluated by our veterinarian.
  • Returns after 30 days: No refund will be issued. We will, however, cover the cost of safely returning the kitten to us and will care for them in our home until an appropriate new placement is found.

We do not issue refunds for returned kittens simply because the family changed their mind about the breed, found the kitten too energetic or vocal, or decided a cat didn’t fit their lifestyle. We work very hard to educate prospective families about the Sphynx breed before placement specifically to prevent this scenario. If you have questions or concerns about whether a Sphynx is right for you, please ask us before committing.


Health-Related Refunds and Replacements

Please refer to our Health Guarantee page for full details on health-related refund and replacement policies. In summary:

  • 72-hour illness guarantee: If a licensed vet confirms a pre-existing illness within 72 hours of arrival, we will cover treatment costs up to a specified amount or provide a replacement kitten
  • 2-year genetic guarantee: If a life-threatening hereditary condition is confirmed within 24 months, we will offer a replacement kitten or a partial refund upon return of the affected kitten
  • Health-related claims must always be supported by written veterinary documentation

What We Ask of Every Family

Before we close this page, we want to say something that goes a little beyond policy. We pour an enormous amount of love, time, energy, and care into every single kitten we raise. Our breeding cats are our family members, and our kittens leave our home with a piece of our hearts. We want them to land in homes where they will be cherished, cared for, and kept safe for their entire lives.

We ask every prospective family to approach this process with the same seriousness we do. Please don’t reserve a kitten on impulse. Please make sure everyone in your household is on board. Please read our Health Guarantee and this Refund Policy carefully. Please ask us every question you have — no question is too small or too obvious.

We are not just here to sell kittens. We are here to find our kittens the kind of homes they deserve — warm, loving, stable, committed homes where they will thrive. That is our only goal, and our policies are designed to protect that goal.
